Yercaud is a popular hill station next only to Ooty and Kodaikanal in Tamilnadu. Yercaud located in the district of Salem has a handful of tourist destinations that are frequented by both locals as well as tourists, both domestic and overseas. Pagoda Point aka Pyramid Point is a viewpoint situated on the eastern side of Yercaud Hills. It is believed to be constructed by the local tribes. This place also has a Rama Temple now built between the stones.

The name of the place is derived from the hill tribes when four piles of random stones were placed in the form of a Pagoda or Pyramid reportedly to observe some community events. You can also take a panoramic view of Ayodhaypattanam and Attur from this spot. It is situated at a distance of 5km from the town of Yercaud. If you are an amateur or someone obsessed with taking selfies, then this is the place to be. Get a good view of the city of Salem and a little hamlet called Kakambadi from the hilltop. This spot also features towering cliffs delighting many a rock climber and daring trekkers. About the ridges of the crest, you’d be able to find four cairn stones that resemble temple towers (or Pagodas).

There is also a shrine held sacrilegious by the loyal Malayalis, built of two anionic stones in the center of the open space. One can also view all the 21 hairpin bends of Yercaud swirling and wriggling through the hills from this point. Though there are transportation facilities, local busses are few to get here; therefore, you can trek through the lush green estates to reach the Pagoda Point. You can thoroughly enjoy the gorgeous view of the cliffs all from a single point, particularly in the early mornings and when the sun goes down.
